What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator that rejuvenates the skin by targeting the deep dermis to enhance collagen production and restore volume. As PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they stimulate the body’s natural collagen growth, correcting facial wrinkles, lines, and depressions. This gradual revitalisation helps improve volume and firmness of the face, offering a natural and youthful appearance that can last up to 2 years. Ideal for treating signs of aging and facial fat loss, Sculptra provides a subtle yet effective solution for restoring lost volume and reducing skin sagging. What Is It Designed For?
Sculptra is designed to address a range of facial concerns. It effectively corrects shallow to deep nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles, including fine lines in the cheek area. Sculptra® is suitable for use in immune-competent individuals to enhance facial contour and address signs of aging. Additionally, it is used for the aesthetic restoration and correction of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in individuals with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Sculptra is intended to be injected into the deep dermis of the following areas:- Nasolabial folds
- Hip dips
- Buttocks
- Marionette lines

Sculptra contains microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), sodium carboxymethylcellulose (USP), non-pyrogenic mannitol (USP), and sterile water for injection (SWFI) (USP). Each vial contains 367.5 mg of the active ingredient and must be reconstituted to form a sterile, non-pyrogenic suspension.Accessories or Items Included
This product comes with 2 syringes, each containing 5 ml Poly-L-lactic acid.Storage Conditions
Sculptra can be stored at room temperature, up to 30ºC (86ºF). Refrigeration is not required.Mode of Administration
Sculptra should only be administered by trained healthcare professionals. Proper training is necessary to minimise risks such as papules/nodules, vessel perforation, or nerve trauma. Avoid intramuscular or intravascular injection to prevent localised necrosis and scarring. Inform patients about the treatment’s indications, contraindications, and potential side effects. Conduct a thorough medical history and vision assessment. Clean the treatment area, and map the face. Use an ice pack or anaesthesia to minimise discomfort. Use a sterile 26 G (5 mL) or 25 G (8 mL) needle. Replace clogged needles as needed and maintain proper suspension throughout. Inject into the deep dermis or subdermal layers at a 30-40 degree angle. Perform a reflux manoeuvre to avoid intravascular injection. Ensure uniform suspension and use appropriate techniques to avoid complications. Massage the treated area in a circular motion after every 3-4 injections to ensure even distribution. Limit each injection to 0.1-0.2 mL, spacing injections 0.5-1 cm apart to prevent overcorrection, because the depression is expected to gradually improve during several weeks after injection as the treatment takes effect. It is administered in up to four sequential sessions spaced three to four weeks apart. For initial treatments, use up to 2.5 mL for nasolabial folds or 9 mL for cheek wrinkles, optionally adding lidocaine.Post-Treatment Care
- Apply an ice pack wrapped in cloth to the treated area within the first 24 hours to reduce swelling and bruising
- Massage the treated area in a circular motion for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days
